Self-Help for Self-Harm

Welcome to Sirius Project!

Do you deliberately hurt yourself as a way of coping with painful emotions, or do you care about someone who does? If so, you've come to the right place! Sirius Project is a collection of resources for people who self-harm and their friends and families. We provide information on self-harm and related issues, some advice on how to stop self-harming, details of useful organisations in the UK and internationally, and forums and a chat room where you can give and receive support. The focus here is very much on things you can do to help yourself. That doesn't mean going it alone without appropriate professional help; it means taking action yourself to get the help that you need.

To get started, just browse the links to the left or use our search box.

Latest News

Our bookstore has just been updated to include the latest titles on self-harm and related issues.

The site has also been updated to include details of free online CBT and DBT programmes and an article on using omega-3 fish oils to treat depression and mood swings. Our page for friends and family now has a much more comprehensive list of resources.

Living with Scars has been moved to the "Staying Safe" section. This might not be entirely logical, but treating and preventing scars does seem to tie in with the concepts of first aid and harm reduction!

If you haven't been by in a while, you might also want to check out our page on borderline personality disorder. It discusses the connection between BPD and self-harm, the possibility of recovery, and provides links to useful information and self-help resources. Our UK Help & Support and Money & Benefits pages have also been updated.

Please note: Sirius Project is a collection of resources compiled by a recovered self-harmer. I am not a mental health professional and this website should not be used as a substitute for seeking appropriate professional help. Sirius Project is not responsible for the content of external links.
